About Peace Haven Baptist Church

Peace Haven Baptist Church held its first service on June 13, 1976, at the Mulberry Community Center, with approximately 100 in attendance. The Church was duly organized and constituted on Sunday morning, June 27, 1976 and called its first pastor the Rev. William J. Taylor.

On August 1, 1976, approximately 6 acres of land, being part of the Wiley Brooks Estate, on Byrd Ridge Road, was purchased for the purpose of erecting a church building. On October 3, 1976, a contract was awarded to the Sherrill Faw Construction Company to construct the church building. Ground Breaking Service was held on Sunday, October 31, 1976.

A dedication Service was held on Sunday, February 27,1977 with the Rev. Donnie Cantwell, of Virginia, as Guest Minister. On June 29, 1977, Peace Haven Baptist Church held its first anniversary Service with a membership of 103. Preacher Taylor resigned December 31, 1977 to enter full-time evangelism. The Rev. Tim Pruitt was elected Interim Pastor on March 19, 1978. On August 20, 1978 Peace Haven Baptist Church adopted its first Church Constitution.

The Church called the Rev. Tim Pruitt as full-time Pastor on Sept. 3, 1978. On March 18, 1979, Peace Haven Baptist Church approved their application for membership into the Stone Mtn. Baptist Association. On November 11, 1981, plans were made for the construction of a Covered Picnic Area which was built and a Dedication Service was held.

On January 1, 1984, $50,000 was owed on the $100,000 borrowed to build the church. On Nov.11, 1984, the note was paid and burned. On February 1, 1987, a balance of $100,000 was in the Building Fund and plans were made to build a new Sanctuary.

On March 29, 1987, Ground Breaking Ceremonies were held to begin a new Sanctuary and Fellowship hall. On February 14, 1988, a dedication service was held in the new sanctuary. On November 27, 1995, Peace Haven Baptist Church purchased an additional 7 acres of land.

Our Mission Statement is simply to study the word of God,  find the will of God so we can do the work of God through Prayer, Bible study, small groups and missions.   We have a great team and you are welcome to come and join us!
